Squeeze your free URL to look like a real domain

If you don't want to buy and register your own domain name, there is a free service that lets you look like a purchased domain:
For example : http://www.spooks-art.tk/

This is available at: www.dot.tk
The upside is obvious as it's free but we all know that free usually comes with a price. Here is the cost:
  • The free version does not allow you to make changes. This means that should you decide to go somewhere else, then it's difficult because you could have links from all over the world that point to this. It's hard to find and get those updated. To rectify this, I assume you could purchase the name.
  • The free version will die though lack of use. So if your main traffic already comes from the original URL, then you will need to promote the new one at *.tk. They got you again.
I'd have to conclude that it's probably better to buy your own domain. This, I found to be wildy varying in price. The best I found was from domain company where you can get a .com for 10 years and less than AU$100. Ask me for a referral - ('cause I'll get some commission.)
